Satellite Communications Toolbox
Satellite Communications Toolbox offers standard-based tools to design, simulate, and verify satellite systems and links. It supports orbit propagation, large constellation visualization, and scenario modeling for time-varying visibility and link budgets across satellites and mobile platforms.
It enables no-code link budget analysis with visual tools for sensitivity and availability, generates DVB-S2/S2X/RCS2, GPS, and CCSDS waveforms as golden references, and provides reference receivers and channel models for RF and optical link simulations.
Orbit Propagation and Visualization
Model satellite orbits using two-body, SGP4, or SDP4 propagators. Visualize 2D/3D orbits, ground tracks, FOV, and sky plots. Generate constellations from TLE, SEM, OMM, RINEX, or ephemeris data.
Multiplatform Access and Link Analysis
Analyze line-of-sight and link closures between satellites and mobile platforms. Simulate multihop links between ground stations.
Link Budget Analysis
Configure, analyze, and visualize satellite link budgets. Evaluate availability with ITU P.618 and assess sensitivity using custom line and contour plots.
Waveform Generation
Generate standard-compliant waveforms for satellite comms (DVB-S2/S2X/RCS2, CCSDS) and navigation (GPS, NavIC) as golden references for design.
Channel Modeling
Design Earth-space links with the ITU-R P.618 model, analyze 5G NTN channels, and simulate deep space optical links using a Poisson channel.
Link-Level Simulation
Simulate satellite links using 5G NTN, DVB-S2/S2X/RCS2, GPS, and CCSDS waveforms. Use customizable MATLAB receivers for synchronization and analyze performance with BER and PER metrics.
